Sustainability

The Palms Centre is committed to reducing our footprint on the environment through energy saving initiatives and waste management:
Waste Management
The Palms Shopping Centre’s recycling initiative which began 2 years ago has been hugely successful, to date around 50% of waste is recycled. Cardboard and plastics are collected for recycling and organic waste from the food court is sorted by staff and collected by a local piggery.
The next phase of The Palms recycling initiative is to see separate recycling bins placed around the mall so customers can help us to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Energy Saving
In the last 12 months The Palms has seen a 15% reduction in our energy use. This energy saving is achieved through utilising natural light as much as possible, both in the mall and particularly in the car parking areas. Lux meters monitor light intensity and automatically shut off unnecessary lighting.
With technological advancements in the management of air conditioning and heating within The Palms we are able to offer customers a comfortable environment in which they can enjoy their shopping experience and actively work towards positive energy savings at The Palms Shopping Centre.
