Hot fashion tips for spring/summer '09

Wondering what your new look should be for spring/summer '09? The Palms in collaboration with Madison Executive Fashion Editor, Rachel Wayman, brings you the four key fashion looks for the season.
Here are the four looks which dominated the international runways of Paris, New York, London and Milan.

Look 1 Beige and Colour

Fashion has embraced its softer side with a nod to neutrals. Nude, cream, peach and beige are mixed with colours to create a new palette. The look is sexy, fluid, shiny and sheer, accentuating a girl's best features while concealing her worst. Stella McCartney, Burberry and Chloe are the key designers embracing the new look. Closer to home, Australia and New Zealand designers have trench coats, paper bag waisted pants, pleat front pants, detailed blouses, oversized jackets and twist front skirts in nude / colour combos. Accessories reflect the more muted and pastel tones of this story plus they feature rich detailings on bags and shoes and metallic finishes on jewellery.

Look 2 Black and White

Black & white is back this summer in even more dramatic fashion. The look, which capitialises on the basics in every woman's wardrobe, is inspired by fashion - forward Milan. Giorgio Armani, Gianfranco Ferre and Prada showcased slick, simple pieces in solid black and white : black pencil skirts, lightweight jackets and separates. The look is easy. Choose your favourite pieces in black and white - from great skirts and t shirts to tailored pants and blazers- then accessorise with sharp jewellery, clutch bags and a fab patent pump.

Look 3 Exotic Safari

The look completely contradicts the global trend to more muted dressing, taking key fashion themes from the past two seasons to add a wow factor. Ralph Lauren is leading the trend. Inspired by Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Arc, ethnic, safari and animalia all fuse together into a look where anything goes but one thing has to win. Think muted gold harem pants, khaki shorts, cute full dresses and jumpsuits. To give it your own spin, mix khaki with ethnic prints and lots of accessories. Splash out on ethnic or snakeskin skirts and dresses or a classic rolled safari short. Team with detailed ankle boots or sandals in neutral tones or snakeskin prints. Opt for bags in animal prints, gold or khaki.

 Look 4 Rock Denim

A fashion staple has been given furthur street cred by French label Balmain, one of the world's coolest brands. So what they say goes. Picking up on the hot rock chic look from winter '09, rock star icons make way for model glam. This youth - orientated look is all about doing it your way. Take your favourite pair of distressed jeans and team with your favourite T. Add a great jacket or sharp blazer and you'll have the off - duty French model look. Slip on ankle or flat boots or a shar, studded heel for a more dressed - up look.
